Introducing Two-Factor Authentication

Table of contents

Sales professionals deal with sensitive data every day. And data security has been of great importance to OnePageCRM from the very beginning. So we’ve been keeping up with the latest trends, including two-factor authentication (2FA).

You’ve probably already heard about 2FA. It may be mandatory—for example, if you work in finance or healthcare—or you might be simply interested in adding an extra layer of security to your account.

In either case, you can now enable 2FA in OnePageCRM.

But before you do this, let’s quickly review what 2FA is and how it complements our existing security settings.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication is a two-step verification process that requires users to provide two pieces of information:

  • First, their password.
  • Second, a six-digit code verification code sent to their mobile phone.

In OnePageCRM, you can choose between two options:

  • either enter your password and code each time you log into your account or
  • tick the Remember for 30 days checkbox to mark your web browser as trusted for the next 30 days.

It takes five steps to enable 2FA:

  1. Click on your User profile.
  2. Go to Users, Plans and Billing
  3. Select a user for whom you want to activate 2FA.
  4. Click on Enable two-factor authentication in the top right-hand corner.
  5. Follow the set-up instructions.

And this is it—you’re ready to go!

Why is Two-Factor Authentication Important?

Imagine you’ve built a house with the most bulletproof door in the world. You also have multiple motion sensors spread out across different rooms. Sounds solid, right? But what if you leave a window open…or forget to turn on the sensors?

This also applies to the data world. You may have the most secure software system in the world, but what if your users are not careful with their passwords?

And that’s where 2FA comes in.

It’s an extra layer of security for your OnePageCRM account. Even if your password is easy to guess, potential attackers cannot access your data without a unique six-digit code sent to your mobile phone.

2FA also helps you promote data-conscious behavior among users. It’s a gentle reminder to be careful with data and keep a sharp eye on any login activities. To learn how to enable or disable 2FA, check out this Help Site page.
