Mistral AI usually gets introduced as Europe’s answer to ChatGPT. That’s true, but it doesn’t say much about what you can actually do with it.
Quite a lot, as it turns out. It answers questions like any chatbot. But it can also connect to the apps you work with and get things done inside them for you.
In this article, we’ll look at what Mistral AI is, how those connections work, and nine ways to use them in your business.
What is Mistral AI?
Mistral AI is a Paris-based AI company that builds its own AI models. In other words, it’s the European alternative to the likes of Anthropic and OpenAI.
Mistral AI’s chatbot is called Vibe these days, but until recently, it went by Le Chat (so don’t be confused if you see both names).
Vibe has a free plan that you can use to ask the chatbot questions and carry out basic, everyday tasks. But to use Mistral for business, you’ll need a paid subscription. Starting at €17.99 ($14.99) per month, these plans include the functionality you need to connect Vibe to your business tools.
Ways to use Mistral AI in your business
To use Mistral AI for work, connect it to the system you already use to manage your business. For most small businesses, that system is a CRM.
Here are nine ways to put the AI to work once it’s connected.
Do research
Finding out who to work with at a company can take longer than the talking itself. You have to learn what the company does, find the right person, and come up with an opening.
Mistral AI can do all of it for you. For example:
“Research Le Creuset, the French cookware brand, and find its decision-makers. Add them to my CRM tagged Cookware Lead, with a note on anything I could open a first conversation with.”
The AI then searches the web, finds the right people, and writes them into your CRM with the tag and the notes attached. It also shows its sources, so you can verify its research (if you want to, that is!).

Prepare for meetings
Mistral AI can brief you before a meeting. It goes through your history with the contact, the notes and emails and any open deal, and it checks the news for anything new about the company. For example:
“Brief me before my call with Amélie at Decathlon. Summarize our notes and the open deal, list anything I promised her, and check what the company has been up to in the news this month.”
Vibe pulls your history with Amélie from the CRM, adds anything you still owe her, and checks the news for company updates. It all comes back as one brief, so you walk into the meeting knowing where things left off.

Update your CRM automatically
Mistral can also do your CRM updates. Tell it what happened in your own words, and it can log the call, move a deal, set a reminder, or add a note for you. For example:
“Just finished my call with Tomasz at Aurora Fitness. He’s in for the autumn package, so move his deal to Proposal Sent, log the call, and remind me to send the quote on Thursday.”
Mistral AI moves the deal, logs the call, and sets the reminder in one go. Your records stay current, and you never even opened the CRM.

Find deals that have gone cold
Vibe can dig up the deals that have stopped moving and tell you why each one stalled. For example:
“Which deals in my Pipeline should have closed by now? For each one, tell me what probably stalled it and what my best next step is.”
The AI combs your Pipeline and comes back with every deal that fits, plus a likely cause and a next step for each one. Save the suggestions you agree with as follow-ups, and working through them becomes part of your normal week.

Write your emails
Mistral AI can write your follow-up emails too, even a whole batch of them at once. Each contact gets their own email, not one blast with the names swapped. For example:
“Read the notes on my contacts tagged Spring Fair and write each of them a personal follow-up email. Keep them short.”
Mistral reads the notes on every Spring Fair contact and writes each person their own email, built on what they actually talked about. Copy the ones you like into your CRM’s email tool and send them from there, in bulk if your CRM supports it.

Draft documents from your CRM data
The AI can also write up the documents your business needs, like proposals or project summaries, using what’s already in your CRM. For example:
“Draft a one-page proposal for the Aurora Fitness deal, using the notes and the deal value from my CRM.”
Vibe pulls the notes and the deal value from your CRM and writes the proposal for you. If part of it reads wrong, ask for changes in plain English until it’s right.

Automate recurring work
Some of your business tasks above are things you need to do every so often. That, of course, can be repetitive and tedious. But it doesn’t have to be.
In Vibe’s Work mode, you can schedule and automate your work. For instance:
“Every Monday at 8 am, check my CRM for overdue follow-ups and the deals closing this month, and have the rundown ready for me.”
Mistral AI saves this as a scheduled task and carries it out every Monday morning.

Keep track of your payments
When you’re running a business, the last thing you need is a surprise with your finances. But checking who has paid and who hasn’t usually requires you to log into your payment tool and cross-check names manually.
Vibe can handle that for you, as well. If you have both your payment app and CRM connected, you can ask the AI:
“Check Stripe for unpaid invoices from this month, then set a follow-up in my CRM for every customer still owing.”
Mistral will go read your Stripe account, find the invoices that are still open, and then set a follow-up on the defaulting customer inside your CRM.
Catch up on team conversations
Mistral AI can read your team’s Slack to get you up to speed and help you carry out any tasks that need to get done. For example:
“Summarize this week’s #sales channel, and if the team agreed anything about the Bergman deal, add it to the deal’s notes in my CRM.”
The AI reads the week’s messages, sums them up for you, and writes whatever the team agreed onto the Bergman deal’s notes.
How to start using Mistral AI for business
To get all of this running, you need a paid Vibe plan (connectors come with any paid tier) and the connections themselves.
There are mainly two ways to link your AI with your business tools.
The first is via the directory. Vibe has a directory of ready-made connectors. There, you’ll find Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, and Stripe, along with tons of others. To connect with this, you just click, sign in, and approve.
The second connection method is what you use for those business tools that aren’t in Vibe’s native directory. You simply add them as a custom connector via MCP.
Any app that has an MCP can be connected this way. The process roughly requires adding the new connector, giving it a name, and pasting in the app’s MCP server URL. Then, you’ll sign in to that app and approve the access.
There is one thing to know before you start, though. Connecting a business tool doesn’t mean it’ll automatically work every time you’re chatting with Mistral AI. You’ll need to intentionally activate the business tool in every new conversation with Vibe.
Data safety in Mistral AI
Letting an AI into your business data is a fair thing to hesitate over. So it helps that Vibe makes the access unusually adjustable.
The first control comes when you connect an app. You choose between read-only access and read and write, so the AI can either just look things up or make changes as well.
After that, you can manage permissions function by function. Creating new records and updating existing ones, for example, can each have their own toggle, and you can switch either of them off at any time.
Connectors also work only in the chats where you’ve turned them on. In every other conversation, Mistral simply has no access to the app. And if you ever want out entirely, disconnecting an app takes a couple of clicks.
Alternatives to Mistral AI
For many businesses, what makes Mistral attractive is that it’s the European choice. The company is French, the pricing is in euros, and its permission controls go deeper than most.
That said, it isn’t the only AI that can work alongside your business tools. Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Grok can do this kind of work, as well.
You simply need to connect them to your business management tool. And it’s worth noting that the connection steps are more or less the same among all of them. In the same vein, these AIs offer pretty much the same functionalities.
Put Mistral AI to work in your business
If you’d like to use Mistral for business but don’t have a CRM yet, we recommend OnePageCRM. It’s built for small businesses, and you can connect its MCP to Mistral AI in less than five minutes.
OnePageCRM is also European. With its headquarters in Ireland, the CRM complies with the GDPR, so the way your customer data is handled meets EU standards.
On top of that, it’s quite affordable, costing €8.95 ($9.95) per user/month. So the whole setup, Vibe and the CRM together, comes to about €27 a month.
Create your account, connect it to Mistral AI, and start putting it to work for your business.
FAQ
By itself, Mistral AI answers questions, writes, and does research like any modern chatbot. Once you connect it to your business tools, it can also do real work in them, like updating your CRM, writing follow-up emails, and building reports on a schedule.
It works with any CRM that has an MCP, and a good number of them do these days. If yours has one, you connect it the same way described above. If it doesn’t, that might be worth weighing in your next CRM choice.
Not really. The whole setup is a name, a pasted URL, and a sign-in, and it’s done in a few minutes. If you’ve ever connected an app to your Google account, you can do this.
No, it only acts when you give it something to do. On top of that, you decide at connection time whether it can write at all, and you can switch the create and update functions off separately whenever you like.
It depends on the plan. On the free plan, your chats can be used to improve Mistral’s models, though you can opt out in the settings. On the paid plans, the ones you’d use for business anyway, your conversations aren’t used for training by default.
The free plan gives you the chatbot itself, so you can ask questions and handle everyday tasks without paying. What it leaves out are the business features. Connecting your own tools needs a paid plan, and those start at €17.99 ($14.99) a month.
Mistral AI works for any size of business. The AI-plus-CRM setup fits small teams best, and larger companies have enterprise plans of their own.
About €27 a month. Vibe’s paid plans start at €17.99, and a small business CRM like OnePageCRM adds €8.95 per user. The CRM side includes its MCP on every plan, and there’s a free trial to test the whole thing before paying.
It can. Vibe has a feature called Memories that picks up your preferences as you use it. And if you’re switching over from ChatGPT, you can bring your existing memories with you, so the AI doesn’t start from zero.
